An exciting opportunity to join our expanding Diabetes, Endocrine and General Medicine Team here at Croydon University Hospital.The post holder will work with the existing Consultants to develop the service, in particular, to support the other consultants in delivering a high quality service, with an opportunity to develop a sub-specialty and further enhance diabetic and endocrine services locally.Main duties of the jobMain duties of the jobCroydon University Hospital wishes to appoint a Consultant Physician within Diabetes/ Endocrine and General Medicine. The Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated physician to join the team.In addition to providing a diabetes/ endocrine service the role has a commitment to the acute medical take, in partnership with acute physicians.Indicative Weekly Job-Plan: Please refer to the chart on the attached job description for an indicative job plan denoting the allocation of programmed activities please note that this is suggested only, and is subject to confirmation with the post-holder The job plan may be subject to change in the future, subject to the needs of the service.   • Full registration with the GMC

QualificationEssential

  • Membership of Royal College or Equivalent
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • Inclusion in the specialist register for Diabetes and Endocrinology, and General medicine or equivalent, or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.

Desirable

  • Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)

Training / ExperienceEssential

  • Fully trained in Diabetes, Endocrinology & General (internal) Medicine
  • Satisfactory completion of a higher specialist training programme in Diabetes & Endocrinology
  • At least 2 years’ substantive previous NHS experience at SPR level (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Prior experience of work at consultant (or equivalent) level in Diabetes / Endocrinology
  • Prior experience in developing a diabetes foot care service at either SPR or consultant level

Management and LeadershipEssential

  • Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to organise and manage work

Desirable

  • Management course and/or qualification
