As part of the single hospital configuration MRI has been designated the lead trust for GI Medicine & Surgical services, including the provision of colorectal surgery services. A key outcome of this will be the integration of the colorectal teams across the MFT hospitals. An integrated colorectal team will have the capability to deliver world class multidisciplinary specialist colorectal services to the people of Manchester and beyond. Together we will harness a unique blend of the latest technologies, techniques, research and education which would set us apart in the North West. Key benefits of an integrated colorectal service include specialist provision of rectal cancer surgery, IBD surgery and pelvic floor surgery, research and innovation and improved patient and staff experience.
