UHBW – Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Internal MedicineUniversity Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust is delighted to have the opportunity to be able to appoint a substantive consultant to join our well established multi-disciplinary diabetes & endocrinology team. This is a full-time (10PA) post and will offer exposure to specialist secondary and tertiary diabetes and endocrine services in our dynamic and thriving teaching hospital. Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Full and specialist registration in GIM with the General Medical Council (GMC) or
- Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview or
- Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or evidence of within six months of award of CCT in D& E or equivalent by date of interview
DesirableHigher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalentExperience
Essential
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
Desirable
- Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust’s service strategy
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
- Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty
- Skills in the management of insulin pump patients, diabetes technologies, diabetes foot disease, endocrine and diabetes antenatal conditions and general endocrine disease.
Desirable
- Broad range of IT skills

- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
