Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Endocrinology & Internal Medicine based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.The post holder will be a member of the team contributing to provision of a high-quality service including Referral-To-Treatment targets and other relevant quality standards. The appointment is to support the diabetes, endocrine & thyroid service, as well as provide on-call acute medical cover 1 in 18 on the general medical rota.Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £100,000 per annum to £146,000 per annum.Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.Main duties of the jobThe appointee will be expected to maintain excellent communication with GP’s and other members of Endocrine and Diabetes Multidisciplinary Teams. The appointee will contribute to the education and training of Junior Medical Staff and in addition the education of GPs and Nurses.There is a commitment to contribute to the provision of care for patients with endocrine neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) as part of the South Wales NET multidisciplinary service.The principles of ward-based medicine operate within the Health Board. When on-call, there is support from a team of clinicians.Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.Academic interests will be encouraged research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.About usCardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 15,000 staff, providing over 100 specialist services. - On GMC Specialist Register / Specialist Registrar with CCT/CESR(CP) due within 6 months of interview date
