This is a full time substantive post within the Department of Frailty and Ageing Medicine. The timetable is flexible, and can be modified to reflect the special interests and expertise of the appointees.Applicants will support the Frailty bed base on the base wards. The successful consultant will have responsibility for up to 16 in patients on the frailty base ward. The wards are supported by a proactive MDT, Physician Associates, resident doctors of various grades and Registrar level Speciality Trainees.Main duties of the jobWe would especially welcome subspecialty interests in Orthogeriatrics or Parkinson’s and Related Disorders.Other sub speciality interests will be also be considered and the department will look at options of providing speciality cover through a departmental job plan if a strong candidate has an interest in other areas which fits into the Frailty strategic vision for the Trust.About usThe Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.Made up of two Trusts – Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) – our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. • MBBS or equivalent qualification
• Valid ALS certificate

• Postgraduate degree: e.g. MD, PhD
• Postgraduate qualification in Education or significant experience in post graduate training

Professional RegistrationEssential

• Full Registration with the GMC, Specialist Registration (or expected inclusion within 6 months)

Clinical ExperienceEssential

• Ability to offer sound clinical opinion on range of acute medical conditions
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients

Management and Administration ExperienceEssential

• Ability to manage and lead medical/surgical teams
• Ability to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit
• Ability to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload

Desirable

• oAbility to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/ delivery

Teaching, Audit and ResearchEssential

• Experience of supervising junior medical staff
• Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs and medical students
• Evidence of participation in audit
• Ability to extrapolate clinical research evidence to care for individual patients

Desirable

• Evidence of having conducted a practice-changing audit
• Experience of teaching/ training in clinical courses e.g. IMPACT Course, Faculty, ALS Instructor, ALERT Instructor
• Original peer-reviewed research publications
