Consultant in General Anaesthesia (Orthopaedics)

Applications are invited for a mixture of replacement appointments following expansion of our services and the retirement of existing consultants. The post is a General Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Trauma and Orthopaedic Anaesthesia. Special interests in most major sub interests of anaesthesia can usually be accommodated.A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. The Trust operates job share and flexible working.Main duties of the jobThe appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.The appointee will take his/her share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of anaesthesia. This will include provision for peri-operative assessment clinics where required.In addition to duties within subspeciality, the appointee will be required to provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to his/her training and experience.There is a general on-call commitment of approximately 1:20 providing cover for general emergency theatres. A separate consultant on-call rota exists for paediatric anaesthesia, trauma weekend and bank holiday days, intensive care medicine and obstetric anaesthesia.All postholders, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust’s Clinical Governance program.
