This is an exciting opportunity to take on a challenging and varied post at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. This is a full time substantive 10 Programmed Activities (PA) post based within the general paediatric and diabetes department. Applicants for this post must have extensive experience in general Paediatrics and Paediatric Diabetes. Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register for Paediatrics or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.Main duties of the jobThe appointee will be contracted for an average of 3 programmed clinic activities per week in general paediatrics and diabetes and will contribute to general paediatrics second-on weeks, winter second on weekends and resident shifts. There will also be requirement to contribute to the diabetes hot weeks and on calls. Qualifications and Training
Essential

  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification – MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Completion of general professional training (paediatric medicine)
  • Completion of higher specialist training in paediatric medicine. Must be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.

Desirable

  • MD, PhD or other higher degree
  • Have experience in assessing and examining children and young people where there are safeguarding concerns

Teaching and Audit
Essential

  • Teaching and Audit Experience of teaching medical students
  • Experience of teaching junior medical staff

Desirable

  • Experience of Audit

Academic Achievements and Research
Desirable

  • Publications in peer reviewed journals or demonstrable commitment to developing research in the Trust
  • Research interests relating to paediatrics
