As a result, it is an exciting and challenging period in the delivery of health and social care in Manchester and one that provides a wealth of opportunity.THE POSTWe are seeking to appoint a Consultant Histopathologist to join our experienced and highly motivated team at the Oxford Road Campus (ORC, although there may be a requirement to work across our other sites). This 10 PA post will join the histopathology reporting team with particular contribution to the gynae pathology sub-specialist service. There may be an opportunity if desired to contribute to other sub-specialist areas in Histopathology according to the experience of the candidate and the needs of the departmentMain duties of the jobMAIN RESPONSIBILITIESYou will join a team of 22 other full and part time Consultants in the Adult Histopathology Department at ORC who provide a reporting service for a variety of specialities including Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal, Dermatopathology, Head and Neck, Ophthalmic and Urology. The main responsibilities of this post would be:

• Together with other Consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing subspecialised histopathology for its clinical users (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and local General Practices). This may include review of slides of patients who are referred in to MFT for further investigation or treatment from other hospitals. The appointee will have the opportunity to participate in cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) in line with their areas of subspecialisation which may involve travel to other sites.
• Participate in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching and training. The Trust is committed to teaching Specialty Trainees in Histopathology under the aegis of HENW (Health Education North West). The appointee will also be expected to teach histopathology to other allied health professionals. In line with this, there will be provision to review the SPA allocation in the job plan if an appointee takes up such extra responsibilities leading to increased teaching duties.

Qualifications and Training
Essential

• MB ChB or equivalent
• Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
• Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
• FRCPath or equivalent

• MD, PhD or other higher degree

• Experience of Audit in Cellular pathology
• Teaching of junior medical staff
• Trained Clinical Supervisor
