An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Interventional Cardiology team at WTWA, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This post will be working across both Wytheshawe Oxford road sites.As the leading provider of tertiary and specialist healthcare services in Manchester, the Trust treats more than a million patients every year. You will be part of a team of 50 Consultant Cardiologists at the Manchester Heart Institute. The Cardiology department is staffed with energetic, forward-looking cardiologists, and we’re looking for someone similar to join our team.The role presents an excellent opportunity to showcase your comprehensive understanding of cardiac care, specifically Interventional Cardiology. You will be involved in shaping the Interventional Carddiology service for the future.Informal visits are encouraged and we would welcome your interest.Main duties of the job

  • To deliver excellent Interventional Cardiology services, for the population of Greater Manchester and surrounding areas
  • To contribute to the planning and development of Interventional Cardiology services
  • To support service development
  • To provide flexible support and develop in reach services across MFT sites
  • To support teaching and research within the department
  • To contribute to the complex device service

Qualifications
Essential

  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • On Speciality Register for Cardiology or CCT within 6 months of interview

Desirable

  • Additional higher degree (eg. MD or PhD) in a relevant subject

Experience
Essential

  • Broad training in general cardiology and extensive training in HF
  • Participation in clinical skills teaching programme

Desirable

  • Evidence of research, service development or experience in innovative technology
  • Experience of organising teaching programmes

Ability
Essential

  • Competent in management of acute and chronic heart failure
  • Ability to integrate within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • Competent in another complementary sub-specialty, for example cardiac device implantation and follow-up

Audit
Essential

  • Commitment to an understanding of the principles of audit
  • Experience in organisation and undertaking audit

Desirable

  • Publication of audit and service improvement projects, locally and nationally.

Research
Essential

  • Research and evidence base to practice

  • Research and publications relevant to post

Management Ability

  • Ability to manage own time and work effectively, understanding of role and importance of management in the NHS
