Job summaryThis post is a unique opportunity to join ourinnovative and expanding infection department. We welcome applicants witheither CCT in Microbiology or joint CCT in infectious Diseases and Microbiology.This is a replacement post offered at 10 PAs full time, though part timeapplicants with prorate on call will be considered.The post holder willbe responsible for contributing to our 24-hour Clinical Infection Servicealongside a strong multidisciplinary team including a consultant Antimicrobial Pharmacistand Antimicrobial Pharmacy team.Infection services inthe trust encompass a wide range of complex and interesting cases including TheMid Yorkshire Regional Adult Burns Centre and Regional Childrens Burns Unitand Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre.Our Trust recentlyattained Teaching status. As part ofour journey to University Hospital status, the Trust has a strategic priorityto increase our number of clinical academic positions, we would welcomeapplicants who have an aspiration to adopt a clinical academic role in future.Main duties of the jobThepost holder will work effectively alongside clinical colleagues to provide a comprehensiveinfection service including:Provision of clinicaladvice from within the Trust, primary care and other healthcare colleagues inour regionAuthorisation andinterpretation of laboratory resultsSupervision and liaisonwith the laboratory teamWorking effectively with juniorinfection specialist colleagues, the pharmacy team and regional infectionspecialist colleaguesInfection prevention andcontrol advice – with opportunity to take up Trust infection control roles e.g.DIPCLiaising with the localUKHSA team for notifiable diseases/organisms and participation in mandatorysurveillanceMultidisciplinary meetings including haematology, orthopaedics, infection control, regional burns centreand intensive careDeveloping servicesincluding outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), undergraduateteaching and researchOn-call duties currentlyshared on a 1 in 4 basisAbout usWe are an acute trust caring for over one million people in Wakefield and Kirklees.
