Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and capable Consultant Neonatologist to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Chelsea and Westminster site.The successful candidate will join an experienced and forward-thinking Consultant team, with a leading academic Neonatal research department as part of Imperial College London.The post includes non-resident on-call duties at the Chelsea and Westminster site, but the post-holder may be required to fulfil a resident on-call pattern for a period of time prior to the completion of a consultation.The Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC) will take place on 3rd October 2024Main duties of the jobThis is a full time non-resident consultant post with day time clinical duties. The clinical part of this post is an 10 PA post with 8.7 DCC (including 0.9PA on-calls) and 2.2 SPA (including lead areas, CPD, teaching, audits)(Additional PA to be included ) . It envisaged that the successful candidates will complement the clinical and administrative roles within the department. The appointee will have strong clinical commitment and form part of a team of 6 WTE equivalents (including 1 X 0.5 WTE and 2 X 0.25 WTE clinical academic lecturers). There is a separate rota of 6 resident consultants who work a combination of day and night clinical duties and shared one of the 7 attending slots.There is attending consultant responsible for intensive care, high dependency and special care each week. There is also a fourth attending consultant who is responsible for the postnatal wards, neonatal outpatient clinics and antenatal counselling.The consultants support 22 tier 1/tier 2 doctors and 1 ANNP to ensure the delivery of training, knowledge and skill acquisition, and ensure consultant presence at all shift handovers. The unit currently looks after approximately 600 babies and has a combined 6,600 ITU/HDU bed days a year. Transitional care is delivered on the postnatal ward.
