Your Consultancy role will be clinically vital, but you’ll be a high-profile expert in an organisation with a more far-reaching impact – boosting the life expectancy of local people & acting as a catalyst programme for the city’s future prosperity.You’ll join a skilled team working closely with Head and Neck Surgeons across our North & South Manchester sites & be part of shaping our future as NMGH becomes the hub of Head & Neck Services for the 3.5 million population of Greater Manchester.Offered with 10 Pas, there are opportunities to pursue research, teaching & specialist interests at a tertiary level.   • You’ll provide outstanding clinical leadership across NMGH, and outreach sites, delivering highly personalised care alongside developing your skills in clinical research to advance the field of oral maxillofacial surgery.
  • Through postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, you’ll have obtained the Intercollegiate Exit FRC (OMFS) to provide surgical interventions for various oral and maxillofacial procedures, such as dental implants, orthognathic surgeries, TMJ disorders, facial trauma, and facial reconstructive surgeries.
  • You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including dentists, orthodontists, radiologists, and anaesthesiologists, ensuring optimal patient care and treatment outcomes for patients and have a direct impact on the lives of thousands of people across Manchester and beyond.

Qualifications & Conditions
Essential

  • Full registration with the GMC
  • A valid License to Practise with the GMC
  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Intercollegiate Exit FRCS (OMFS) or show evidence of equivalent training and experience
  • Entry onto the Specialist Register or a Specialist Registrar within 6 months of the award of their CCT in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (or recognised equivalent if outside the UK) on the date of interview
  • Recognised Post-Graduate Training in OMFS

Desirable

  • Post graduate degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc
  • FDSRCS or MFDSRCS
  • Head and neck cancer and reconstructive fellowship
  • Registration with the GDC

  • Evidence of participation in research

Desirable

  • Evidence of work submitted for peer review

Experience & clinical skills
Essential

  • Wide experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including extensive experience in head and neck oncology
  • Broad experience in the management of adult Oral and Maxillofacial patients

  • Good understanding of clinical governance
