An exciting opportunity is available at the Wales Fertility Institute (WFI) to work as a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine.This post is for a highly motivated individual to join a well-established multidisciplinary team at the Wales Fertility Institute.The post is a Full Time 10 session permanent appointment and will commence as soon as possible.Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will join the senior team of two consultants, one Specialist grade and one specialty Doctor in providing a complete range of services, as well as managing and training junior medical and nursing staff. The post holder will be expected to participate in all activities of the consultant-led general fertility and assisted reproductive technology (ART) service, including outpatient clinics, theatre lists and IVF procedures (egg retrievals, embryo transfers, fertility scanning etc.). The successful candidate will also support the senior team in providing on-call cover for the Reproductive Medicine service during evenings and weekends on a 1:4 basis.The post holder will be expected to play a key role in the on-going development of the Fertility service and will work alongside the Clinical Lead and senior management team to further develop the fertility preservation service.About usSwansea Bay University Health Board provides services to around 400,000 people, primarily serving the populations of Neath, Port Talbot, and Swansea and their respective communities. Qualifications
Essential

  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • MBBS, or equivalent medical qualification
  • Post CCT substantive consultant
  • Full GMC registration and licensed to practice

Desirable

  • Sub-specialty accreditation in reproductive medicine
  • Higher degree (PhD, MD)

Experience
Essential

  • Proven experience in general fertility and assisted conception
  • Detailed working knowledge of HEFA
  • Relevant training in reproductive medicine
  • Able to work without direct supervision in the field of fertility/assisted conception
  • Able to work and fulfill the demands of a busy, complex clinical service
  • Experience of supervising junior staff and teaching medical students and nurses
  • Experience in teaching, training and involvement of clinical research
  • Experience of Audit relevant to Obstetrics/Gynaecology

Academic Achievements and Research
Desirable

  • Publications in recognised high impact journals

Management Experience
Essential

  • Evidence of management and administrative experience
  • Able to manage a team
  • Able to chair meetings
  • Detailed knowledge of RCOG,BFS and other relevant professional body guidelines and current scientific and medical literature relating to ART
