A great opportunity has arisen for two experienced and proactive Consultants to join our busy and dynamic Respiratory Medicine TeamEach appointee will receive a £30,000 recruitment and retention payment (£10k/year for 3 years).Post holders will undertake appropriate subspecialist and General Respiratory clinics.We would actively consider individuals with any sub-speciality interest although we would be particularly keen to consider candidates with experience in:Acute NIV/HDU care / leading on the development of Respiratory Support Unitsrespiratory infection including TBSleep-Disordered Breathing.Postholders will be involved in Audit, Clinical Governance, Teaching and Service Development and opportunities exist for self-development and leadership in these areas.We work closely with community partners in the delivery of in/outpatient services and both posts will have a commitment to Community Respiratory MedicineWe would consider candidates who wish to work less than full time.Main duties of the jobThe appointee will:Provide timely A& G, referrals triage and run outpatient clinicsLead ward rounds and provide in-reach to acute careParticipate in a 1 in 10 Respiratory on-call rotaAttend Governance, Audit, Business, Medical Faculty and Departmental meetings.Work with medical, nursing, and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in each of the following areas:Clinical efficiency eg LOS reductions and DNA rates.Quality of outcomes eg infection and re-admission ratesFinancial management eg agency and drug spendOperational efficiency e.g. waiting list activity and demand managementCommit to annual appraisal and medical revalidation, utilising SPA timeParticipate in mandatory training and CPDSupport junior doctor teaching, training and supervision utilising 0.5 SPA for educational supervision of HEE traineesThis post will be based at Queen’s Hospital in Romford but the postholder may be asked to work in any Trust / appropriate community location.About usWe’re an organisation that is getting better and better. Qualifications
Essential

  • MBBS (or equivalent), MRCP or equivalent
  • Registered with GMC, On GMC Specialist Register to G(I)M and respiratory medicine (or within 6 months of CCT date)
  • Broad experience of respiratory medicine
  • Successful completion of Speciality Certificate Examination in Respiratory Medicine

Desirable

  • Distinctions, scholarships, prizes
  • Other degrees, eg BSc, MD, PhD
  • A sub-speciality interest complimentary to those of current staff in the department
