*Royal College approval pending*Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with Expertise in Lung Cancerand EBUSThe post has been created as part of the Thoracic Cancer Service to enhance Lung Cancerdiagnostics and patient experience of the diagnostic lung cancer pathway. The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC full and specialist? To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.Research, Teaching and Training? To collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust’s translationalresearch portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance.? To provide high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of otherhealth care professions as required by the Clinical Director.? To act as educational supervisor and appraiser as delegated by the Clinical Director toensure external accreditation of training post.Performance Management? To work with medical, nursing, laboratory and managerial colleagues to ensure highperformance in the following areas:? Clinical efficiency e.g. LOS reductions, reducing cancelled operations and DNA rates.? Quality of outcomes e.g. infection control targets, reducing re-admission rates.About usThe Thoracic Cancer Service will provide expertise to over 1,500 patients from north and southwest London and beyond through a new joint, world-leading collaboration.   • To co-provide, with the existing consultant physicians, a clinical service in cancer management in accordance with clinical and legal requirements, at a standard in keeping with the role of the department as a national and international clinical leader in the field. This will involve participating in a rotating roster, liaising closely with referring physicians in developing a shared care ethos.
  • To develop a pleural service for the Thoracic Cancer service
  • To develop a rapid diagnostic straight to test service which achieves standard set by the National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway for the Thoracic Cancer service
  • To co-develop the Thoracic Cancer Service, integrating advances in diagnosis and management and informing colleagues of these developments.
  • To participate in and develop clinical and organisational audit and to improve standards of the service wherever possible

  • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in respiratory medicine, or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview.

Desirable

  • Higher degree (PhD, MD etc)
  • On the Specialist Register of The GMC or within 6 months of eligibility at the time of interview.

ExperienceEssential

  • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant speciality.
  • Specialist training in Interventional Pulmonology
  • Significant experience in interventional bronchoscopy

Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesEssential

  • Ability to translate current procedural skills to develop new procedures Teaching skills
  • Ability to conduct clinical audit
  • Broad range of IT skills

Desirable

  • Teaching skills
