Applications are invited for these substantive posts created by the retirement of colleagues and redistribution of work to allow expansion of the senior medical workforce to promote a healthier, more resilient team capable of providing care of the highest quality. The successful applicants will work with 14 consultant colleagues, 3 specialty doctors and 2 associate specialists to provide the senior paediatric medical team. Preference will be given to candidates with an additional sub-specialty interest to support the department including, in particular, paediatric cardiology, diabetes and endocrinology, respiratory medicine, eating disorders, and adolescent health.Main duties of the jobEach post is for 8 programmed activities which will be divided between the Acute Paediatric service and providing some sub-specialty interest service provision. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the Acute Paediatric service including provision of acute ward service as the admitting consultant, acute shifts on the Children’s Assessment Unit, provision of safeguarding medicals and some General Paediatric out-patient work. There will be the opportunity to provide some sub-specialty clinics and to work within the specialty service multi-disciplinary team providing both inpatient and community support for young people under the team.About usThe successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the teaching of undergraduates from the Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine, postgraduates in the clinical situation and to undertake audit and governance activity.Job description

- oExpertise in the management of children with general paediatric problems including safeguarding paediatrics
- Completion of a recognised higher training programme in Paediatrics with Higher Specialist Training in General Paediatrics
- APLS or equivalent
- Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates
Desirable
- Specific training in patient safety and / or human factors
- SPIN module of equivalent competencies in a paediatric subspecialty
- Formal qualification in medical education
- Experience of organising teaching programmes or specific teaching events
