We are looking for a dynamic Consultant Paediatrician with interest in Paediatric Epilepsy to join our Paediatric team at Kingston Hospital.Full Time 10 PAsKingston Hospital has an overall CQC rating of Outstanding and we are committed to continue this provision of excellent care by attracting the highest quality of candidates to join us.You will be joining a team providing consultant led care in a busy DGH with a substantial NNU. The post enables the provision of consultant led care and supervision for junior and nursing staff 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, providing excellent paediatric care.Main duties of the jobKEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF ROLE:General

  • Provide clinical leadership.
  • To collaborate with others and set standards in clinical care and work to develop clear, simple care pathways.
  • To promote close working links with all providers of services for children, particularly within local primary care and the Southwest London Network
  • To manage a flexible approach to service provision, adapting practice and provision to meet changing needs.
  • To work with consultant colleagues, other medical colleagues and junior doctors, professional and nursing colleagues, and local managers to ensure the efficient and effective running of the service.

  • Full GMC Registration (or eligibility to obtain)
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • CCT in Paediatrics and on GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration
  • Newborn Life Support (NLS) certification
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certification

Desirable

  • Higher degree eg. MD/PhD/MBA
  • Instructor for NLS/APLS
  • Qualification in Medical Education

Clinical ExperienceEssential

  • Wide range of paediatric experience including acute paediatrics and neonatology in a tertiary centre at middle grade or above

Desirable

  • Good experience in child safeguarding , serious case review/IMR

Specific Additional SkillsEssential

  • Competency in Paediatric procedures
  • Competency in Neonatal procedures

Desirable

  • Evidence of specific interest in ambulatory paediatrics and or neonatology
  • Evidence of any subspecialty interest

Management SkillsEssential

  • Awareness and understanding of clinical governance
  • Involvement in management appropriate to experience

Desirable

  • Attended management training course
  • Knowledge of finance / budgets

Experience in Training, Audit and ResearchEssential

  • Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors
  • Experience of clinical audit

Desirable

  • Completed ‘Train the Trainers’ course or equivalent course in education and training
  • Relevant research articles in peer-reviewed journals
