An opportunity has arisen for a new Consultant Radiologist post with a special interest in Musculoskeletal Radiology at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post has arisen as a result of increasing demand for musculoskeletal imaging across all modalities together with increasing waits for image guided therapeutic injections and intervention.The post holder will join the team of eight full time Consultant Radiologists all of whose special interest is Musculoskeletal Radiology. There is an expectation that the new appointee will contribute to the reporting of the relatively small amount of non-orthopaedic work in the Department, principally cross sectional body CT.Applicants will be able to demonstrate through their application that they are sufficiently trained in musculoskeletal radiology as well as having a broad background of radiological experience.Interested candidates will be listed on the GMC’s Specialist Register for Radiology (or be within 6 months of being at the time of interview) and will have completed an appropriate post-specialist registration Fellowship (minimum 12 months duration).Main duties of the jobThis is a full time post encompassing all areas of imaging allied to the musculoskeletal system including specialist musculoskeletal ultrasound, image guided intervention utilising the modalities of ultrasound, fluoroscopy and computed tomography with especial reference to fluoroscopic or CT guided spinal nerve root injections; the reporting of musculoskeletal MRI, CT and plain radiography and contribution to the various multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. A further programmed activity to support professional activity (SPA) may be available following a job plan review in due course.The post holder will be required to participate in on-call duties with the other consultant radiologists (1 in 6 currently). - Registered with the GMC with licence to practice with no restrictions.
- Listed on the GMC’s Specialist Register in Diagnostic Radiography through CCT/CESR in MSK Diagnostic Radiology (or within 6 months of registration at the date of interview)
- FRCR (or equivalent)
- Currently practicing clinician
Desirable
- Higher degree (eg MD/PhD)
ExperienceEssential
- Post specialist registration fellowship (minimum 12 months duration) or equivalent sub-specialist training in musculoskeletal radiology in a specialist unit
- Experience as a more senior specialist registrar in a major radiology department.
- Able to demonstrate wide experience of Radiology
- Ability to offer expert radiology opinion on a wide range of problems both emergency and elective within trauma and orthopaedics.

- Specialist MSK orthopaedic diagnostic experience.
- Participation in MSK Multi-disciplinary team

- Understands principles of audit
