The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Interventional & Diagnostic Radiologist to join our existing team of 10 Consultant Radiologists. The CCC IR service is currently delivered by two IR consultants and is undergoing considerable growth since its inception in 2020, with the introduction of new procedures, nurse-led sedation, and a pre-operative assessment clinic.The successful candidate will join a dynamic IR team focusing on delivering general and specialist image-guided procedures to patients with advanced cancer, and support medical oncology, radiation oncology, haemato-oncology, and palliative care teams.The radiology department in CCC currently provides a comprehensive oncological diagnostic service. CCC-Liverpool includes CT, MRI, PET/CT, US, Plain Film and Interventional Radiology. Facilities on the CCC-Wirral site include general radiology, CT, MRI, US, nuclear medicine and PET/CT.Additionally, CCC operate the Paddington Community Diagnostic Centre, and there is the opportunity to report on general radiology in addition to oncology work. Out of hours reporting is supported by an independent teleradiology service.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will support the IR department by; undertaking operating lists in the IR suite, service development, engaging in quality improvement, provide clinical input and vetting of IR cases, and reviewing patients in the pre- and post-operative setting as required.The IR service is delivered on the CCC-Liverpool site, which is adjoined to the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital (part of Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust). LUHFT currently provide out-of-hours IR support to CCC patients.The bespoke CCC IR suite features a Siemens Artis Zee angiography unit with a large display and capabilities for cone beam CT, needle guidance and contrast power injection. The IR department is currently undergoing plans for re-design and expansion to match current growth and future ambitions.The job plan is for 10 programmed activities (8 DCC, 2 SPA). Job plans will include reporting sessions for general oncology work and inpatient reporting, and the provision of a diagnostic subspeciality can be accommodated if desired. Reporting sessions can be undertaken remotely, and hybrid job plans are supported by the department. New consultants will be set up with a PACS reporting home workstation.   • MB ChB or equivalent or MBBS or equivalent Full and Specialist registration (as well as a license to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview
  • FRCR (or equivalent)
  • Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Radiology or be within six months of award of CCT by the date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice at date of commencement

Desirable

  • Higher degree of PhD or MD by postgraduate thesis (or evidence of equivalent research training/experience)
