The post holder will be a member of the Specialist Medicine Directorate in BHRUT and will be part of the consultant team that will deliver Rheumatology services across BHRUT.The post holder is expected to possess membership of the Royal College of Physicians or to have equivalent qualifications.To be on GMC specialist register at the time of taking up the post and have obtained the MRCP Renal certification is desirable.The post-holder is expected to share in-patient commitments with the existing full-time Rheumatologists to provide an acute in-patient referral service 52 weeks a year.The post holder will have secretarial support and an adequately equipped office, including IT facilities.The post-holder is actively encouraged to participate in service-development and clinical-governance activities, in addition to clinical and educational supervision of junior trainees.In conjunction with the other Rheumatologists the post-holder will contribute to the overall organisation and planning of the service and will be supported by the team.Main duties of the jobThe post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops.The Full-time working week will consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PA’s), separated into:1.Direct Clinical Care2. Supporting Professional Activities:Weekly timetable of fixed commitments:Activity * Direct Clinical Care (Outpatient clinics, admin and clinical MDT meetings):8.5 PAs

Qualifications
Essential

  • MB.CHB or equivalent
  • Specialist registration with the General Medical Council and licensed to practice
  • Completion of higher training (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining CCT in Rheumatology at time of interview

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualification (PHD or MD) equivalent
  • Experience of Audits
  • Publications in recognised Medical and Rheumatology journals
