We are looking to appoint to a whole-TimeConsultant Vascular Surgeon to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.ed.Main duties of the jobTheSheffield Vascular Serviceprovides the vascular services at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and is based on Firth 2 wardat the Northern General Hospital site. Theserviceprovides elective and24 houremergency vascular services for Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and surrounding districts with a tertiary referral population of approximately 1.25 millionalong with carotid services to North Derbyshire.The currentconsultant workingarrangement is a 14-week rolling rota staffed by 7 people with fixed commitments, with a consultant of the week model and annualised job plans.About usLocated on rolling hills and dissected by river valleys, Sheffield is one of the greenest and most wooded cities in Europe.   • Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • Appropriate higher surgical qualification in Vascular Surgery (eg FRCS, FEBVS)
  • If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

Desirable

  • MD or PhD or equivalent

Clinical experienceEssential

  • Clinical training and experience in vascular surgery equivalent to that required for UK CCST
  • Ability to work as an independent practitioner in the specialty covered by the post.

ResearchEssential

  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate

Desirable

  • Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
  • Ideas for future research whilst in post

Teaching and trainingEssential

  • Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors

CPDEssential

  • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months

  • Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
