The primary purpose of this consultancy is to facilitate and provide support to UNICEF staff in conducting the consultations for finalizing the set of core and additional indicators and preparing a narrative report presenting the framework along with the metadata for each indicator. The consultant will work with the Child Nutrition and Development Section and Data & Analytics Section’s Nutrition Unit.

Scope of Work:

  • Support the preparation, delivery, and follow up of consultations with countries/national statistical offices, youth groups, additional experts and groups. Each one of these consultations may take a different format, but will likely take place online either through surveys, emails, and/or webinars.
  • Support with the revision and finalization of the monitoring framework based on feedback received through the consultations.
  • Write the monitoring framework narrative, including the indicator metadata, to be published as a UNICEF report.
  • Support the dissemination of the global nutrition monitoring framework for school-age children and adolescent through the preparation of a policy brief, presentations, and webinars. 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • An advanced university degree (PhD) in Nutrition or Public Health, or related disciplines 

Work experience: 

  • The consultant should have a minimum of five years of experience working in school-age children and adolescent nutrition initiatives.  
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and writing skills are a must. Fluency in English is essential. 
  • Experience in developing global monitoring frameworks is preferred. Experience in the analysis of nutrition data in this age group (anthropometric, dietary, etc.) and the determinants of malnutrition is also preferred.  Prior experience in developing indicators of nutritional status, dietary intake, etc., is also preferred.
  • Listed requirements will be used for technical evaluation in the competitive process.

Requirements:

  • Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and 
  • Upload copy of academic credentials 
  • Financial proposal that will include/ reflect :
  • the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
  • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR. 
  • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
  • Indicate your availability 
  • Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
  • At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
  • Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
