Climate News Tracker is seeking a Content Analyst to join our growing team tracking and analysing climate change coverage across UK broadcast and digital news. This role sits between our Data Content Analysts and Journalism Insights roles, combining editorial understanding with analytical thinking. You will work closely with both data content analysts and journalism insight specialists to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities in climate reporting across Public Service Broadcasters (PSBs) and other major news organisations.
We are looking for someone with strong analytical and communication skills who is interested in journalism, media, and climate storytelling. You do not need to be a programmer or data scientist, but you should feel confident working with structured information, identifying trends in coverage, and translating findings into clear editorial insight. This role would suit someone with experience in journalism, media research, communications, audience insights, or editorial analysis who wants to contribute to improving climate coverage in mainstream news.
Founded and led by journalists, Climate News Tracker works in partnership with the University of Exeter’s Centre for Climate Communication and Data Science (C3DS) to track and analyse climate news coverage. We monitor how climate issues are represented across TV, radio, and online platforms, helping newsrooms better understand how audiences engage with climate stories and where opportunities for stronger reporting exist. You can see examples of our work on our website.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can combine curiosity about journalism with strong critical thinking and communication skills. You do not need advanced coding experience for this role. Instead, we are looking for someone who can:
The role will begin as remote, with a transition to hybrid working in London including both in-office and remote days. Occasional UK travel may be required. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
Climate News Tracker is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups, particularly within climate journalism, media research, and communications.
