NAIT’s Wireless Systems Engineering Technology program is a 2-year diploma program delivered over 4 semesters of 15 weeks each. This program is designed to provide students with the theoretical and technical knowledge required for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of wireless communication systems for fixed and mobile; personal, enterprise and industrial applications.The Wireless Systems Engineering Technology program has an opening for a full-time continuous instructor who is student-centered, has strong organizational skills and is committed to student success, with excellent communication skills in both written and oral English. Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking and decision-making skills are required.Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in online, classroom, laboratory and industry setting
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
  • Respond to student issues
  • Seek regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
  • Maintain contact with relevant industries.
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Develop and revise course material and curriculum on an ongoing basis to ensure relevancy to industry standards and to maximize student success
  • Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirements are a related Technology Diploma with several years of related experience. An additional related advanced degree would be an asset.

Several years of industry experience in telecommunications, radio and wireless systems is required. * Knowledge of radio frequency propagation principles, antenna principles, telecommunications transmission media, telecommunications signals, design, analysis and implementation of telecom and wireless systems is required.

  • Knowledge and industry experience in the following areas would all be assets: analogue and digital communications, cellular communication systems, land mobile radio, P.25, point-to-point microwave systems, satellite systems, fibre optic systems, telecom switching systems, global navigation satellite systems, private radio systems, site planning, telecom system implementation.

Cisco Network Academy certification, or training and experience in computer networking platforms (service provider or operations platforms such as Nokia, Juniper, Mikrotik) is required. * Excellent technical documentation skills are required.Familiarity with Microsoft Office and industry related software tools are essential. * Previous post-secondary teaching experience would be an asset.

  • Project management training and experience would be an asset.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 – $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 – $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations.
