The post holder will be based in the Directorate for Research and Business Engagement, providing a professional service to colleagues within the University’s Faculty structure leading on legal and contractual arrangements focusing primarily on the Sir Henry Royce Institute at the University. Being responsible for advising on structuring and setting up consortium with respect to the contractual and legal requirements, including the negotiation and preparation of a wide variety of agreements including the drafting of template contracts for research, collaborations, services, consultancy and studentship arrangements and providing ongoing contractual support and oversight for the strategic and major projects portfolio.
The University has a number of strategic and major partnerships which requires a significant amount of on-going contractual support. The Contracts Manager (Strategic Projects) will have specific responsibility for those strategic and major projects, they would be involved in providing legal and contractual advice, leading on the establishment of the initial contractual framework for the project, building up a relationship with the key stakeholders, maintaining oversight of the contractual and legal arrangements and continuing to provide on-going contractual support, over the lifetime of the project.
With a legal qualification and relevant experience of contract preparation, negotiation and involvement in strategic and major projects, you will have an in depth working knowledge and understanding of legal issues in this area. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills you will have a flexible approach to work with the ability to prioritise a demanding programme of work to meet set deadlines.
