We are offering an exciting opportunity in the non-profit area, based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. As the Accounting Manager, you’ll be responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the finance accounting function and ensuring all financial transactions are processed and recorded accurately. You’ll also be involved in managing special projects and implementing new processes and technology to support effective branch operations.Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration of payroll, procurement and payables activities.
- Coordinate banking and cash-flow monitoring, ensuring all transactions align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Provide subject matter expertise to other branches on financial policies, procedures, processes and best practices.
- Review accounting system balances and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure all statutory reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
- Manage the processing of investments into GIC and Corporate Investment Fund, ensuring documentation adheres to policies.
- Coordinate the year-end external audit by preparing working papers and providing materials to external auditors.
- Advise on complex accounting transactions, ensuring they align with best practices.
- Implement and leverage new processes and technology to support effective branch operations.
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an Accounting Manager, Controller or similar role
- Proficient in Budget Processes, ensuring financial planning and strategy are well-executed
- Ability to manage and lead a team, demonstrating strong People Management skills
- Extensive experience in Journal Entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial records
- Familiarity with General Ledger tasks and responsibilities
- Experience in Payroll management for 101 – 500 Employees, ensuring timely and accurate payment
- Proficient in developing and implementing Policies & Procedures, ensuring company-wide compliance
- Experience in handling Complex Transactions, demonstrating problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prepare Month-end Financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Experience in Month End Close processes, ensuring timely completion and accuracy
- Familiarity with Audit processes and procedures, ensuring adherence to financial laws and regulations
- Proficiency in NetSuite or similar financial software, demonstrating technical skills and adaptability.
This is hybrid-home opportunity with 25 holidays Excluding 15 statutory days) the first year.
