Controller in Rockleigh, New Jersey

Description

We are seeking a Corporate Controller located in Rockleigh, New Jersey. This role operates within the food industry and involves overseeing financial operations and ensuring compliance within a dynamic and rapidly growing organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Accounting/Finance Department, you will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and strategic financial analysis to support business decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for presentation to senior management and external stakeholders.

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data, including revenue recognition, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.

• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, providing guidance on revenue projections, expense allocations, and capital expenditures.

• Develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.

• Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigate financial risks.

• Conduct periodic reviews and assessments of control procedures, recommending enhancements as needed.

• Analyze product costs, manufacturing variances, and distribution expenses to identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiency.

• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and reduce costs.

• Manage all aspects of tax compliance, including preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.

• Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and minimize tax liabilities.

• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, coordinating audit schedules, providing requested documentation, and addressing audit inquiries.

• Work closely with IT department in the ongoing implementation of ERP systems.

• Provide training and support to finance team members on system usage and best practices.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 7 years experience in a Controller role or equivalent

• Strong proficiency in Financial Reporting is required

• Experience with Budgeting and Forecasting is necessary

• Must have knowledge and experience in implementing Internal Control measures

• Proficiency in Cost Management is required

• Must have experience in Corporate Tax Compliance

• Audit experience is necessary

• Knowledge and experience with Month End Close procedures is required

• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field – CPA preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary

• Proficiency with Sage X3 software is desired

• Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team

• Requires the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Must have a strong understanding of business ethics and regulatory and compliance policies
