Controller in San Diego, California

Description We are seeking a Controller located in San Diego, California. This role is within the finance industry and will involve overseeing daily and monthly accounting operations, as well as supervising a team of financial staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Supervising daily and monthly accounting operations and ensuring the department runs smoothly and efficiently.

• Calculating, analyzing, and managing sales commissions according to specific business strategies.

• Developing and maintaining internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

• Providing comprehensive financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in a timely manner.

• Establishing, monitoring, and enforcing appropriate accounting methods, policies, and principles.

• Managing full cycle accounting tasks including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.

• Overseeing budget preparation and implementation.

• Analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports that meet company needs.

• Coordinating yearly audit preparations and liaising with both internal and external auditors.

• Collaborating with executive leadership in strategic decision-making processes and assisting in forecasting business requirements. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or similar financial leadership role

• Proficiency in 3M, Accounting Software Systems, ADP – Financial Services, CRM, and Crystal Reports

• Comprehensive understanding of accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience in auditing, budget processes, and financial forecasting

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to propose and implement solutions

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team

• Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including senior management and external auditors

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA or MBA preferred

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

• Flexibility to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
