Position description
The Advancement team cultivates, solicits, and stewards individuals, as well as foundation, government and corporate partners who invest in the Society to drive impact through science, technology, education, exploration, and storytelling. The team collaborates with Society teams – and often works closely with NGP/Disney – to build transformative and impact-driven strategic partnerships. The team also produces global events that deepen connections and leverage the Society’s power to convene, and directs robust annual, major and planned giving programs empowering the Society with a broad base of public support.
The Coordinator, Corporate Partnerships is a key member of Advancement’s Institutional Partnerships team and supports all aspects of corporate partnership philanthropic engagement to advance the Society’s priorities and goals. This person will provide critical support for the team’s partnership qualification, cultivation and stewardship strategies, assisting in incoming inquiries, meeting planning, partner recognition, and special events.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships and located at the Society’s headquarters office in Washington, DC, the Coordinator will collaborate with colleagues across the enterprise in supporting successful corporate partnership activities. They will be an organized, solutions-oriented professional with an interest in supporting the Society’s mission to protect and illuminate the wonder of our world.
Your Impact
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist Senior Director and team in planning both internal and external meetings, including scheduling, arranging travel, managing agendas, coordinating event briefings, arranging logistics and AV needs, and taking timely and accurate notes. (30%)
- Recurring (corporate weekly, sales coordination monthly, programmatic meetings) meeting notes and follow up on next steps to ensure completion. Creation of agendas where needed.
- Coordination for difficult to schedule meetings (SLT, VP level).
- Submitting requests for corporate research and vetting.
- Ensuring follow up for major meetings – thank you emails, preparation with timelines for next steps.
- Manage collection of corporate content for advancement weekly monthly updates.
- Assist in data management by updating and maintaining accurate institutional partner records in RE NXT including adding in activities and notes, opportunities, and updated contact information. (20%)
- Support the Institutional Partnerships team in engaging corporate contacts via Advancement events and stewardship activities, including list coordination and targeted mailings, as well as staffing events as assigned. (10%)
- Track progress for outreach activities as needed- should align with the prospect tracker.
- Support development of grants, presentations and creation of outreach materials as needed. (10%)
- Support development of external positioning of IP team. (10%):
- Create 1 LinkedIn post per week for Senior Director to share showcasing topics that would interest the Private Sector.
- Share trends and best practices in corporate sustainability, fundraising.
- Research competitor external positioning and glean best practices.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions around creative strategies across the Institutional Partnerships team to engage, retain and grow NGS’s partners. (5%)
- Support development and creation of process documents for the IP team as needed. (10%)
- Support corporate team professional development, sharing opportunities offered by Society and interesting upcoming webinars. (5%)
Qualifications
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
2+ years of professional work experience in an office setting
Necessary Knowledge and Skills
- Experience using Google Suite and Microsoft Office software for creating and managing documents, presentations, and spreadsheets
- Strong communications skills and experience communicating with potential clients or customers in a professional manner
- Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail and follow through
- Evening/weekend hours for assigned meetings or events and potential of up to 10% travel
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using a customer relationship management (CRM) platform, like Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce, preferred
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to collaborate effectively across multiple departments
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

The salary range for this position accounts for a wide range of factors including but not limited to organizational need; specific skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and more. At the National Geographic Society, individuals are typically hired at or near the starting point of the salary range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
The hourly range for this position is $24.21 – $25.49.
