Closing Date: July 9, 2024Reporting to the Senior Lead, Indigenous and Community Affairs, the Coordinator, Indigenous and Community Engagement is responsible for Indigenous, local government and public stakeholder engagement support. The primary focus will be on internal and external communications and facilitations relating to key Indigenous and Community Relations activities and projects. This position also involves collaborating with the Communications team to source and develop related content to be shared for broader internal or external audiences. This role will contribute to the development of engagement and consultation strategies and participate in the implementation of Project Indigenous Agreements.To be successful, we are looking for someone with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, who can effectively engage with personnel at all levels of an organization and is proficient in the intricacies and sensitives involved in stakeholder engagement; a self-motivated individual who collaborates well in a team environment, and who has strong organizational, writing, and analytical abilities. - Plan, implement and support engagement events
- Support the planning and facilitation of internal meetings and workshops related to social and engagement Project requirements
- Work with the regulatory team on social risk assessment and mitigation plans
- Support fulfillment of engagement requirements of the provincial and federal environmental assessment process
- Support the implementation and maintenance of an engagement and regulatory records program
- Ensure the implementation of appropriate project management practices including briefing notes, decision memo and meeting records
- Collaborate closely with internal groups and site community relations practitioners to communicate strategy, best practice, and policy development
- Support the application of Teck’s Indigenous Peoples Policy and Communities and Indigenous Peoples sustainability goals
- Collaborate with the Communications team to source and develop engaging Indigenous and Community Relations content
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Experience in Indigenous community relations, communications, marketing, regulatory approvals, or environmental management
- Experience in engagement facilitation including digital forms, and participating in public engagement processes
- Solid understanding of human rights, Indigenous culture, reconciliation, and issues faced by Indigenous peoples
- Demonstrated understanding of related regulatory context and requirements
