We have an opportunity for an experienced Associate/ Senior Associate to join our Corporate Real Estate Practice.Team & Role SummaryFreshfields’ Global Transactions practice brings together lawyers specialising in corporate, finance and real estate. Working collaboratively to provide the best transactional advice to clients, we act for private and public companies, banks, governments and states, amongst others. We are consistently ranked at the top of the league tables in Europe, Asia and globally. Most of our work has a cross-border element, requiring us to draw on the expertise of our global transactions lawyers in other offices across the network.The highly regarded, award winning London Real Estate group has a wide ranging domestic and pan European practice. We are part of an international team with leading real estate practices in each of the main western European jurisdictions. We are looking for a corporate Real Estate Associate with broad experience from a leading practice, with a particular interest in and focus on complex transactions in the real estate sector.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvising on and helping to lead firmwide teams delivering real estate M&A and joint venture transactions.Advising on corporate and joint venture holding structures including real estate investment trusts, Limited Partnerships, unit trusts, and open and closed ended funds.Advising on major real estate acquisitions, lettings and disposals including the impact of construction, planning and environmental law.Providing an integrated service to clients working in all aspects of commercial real estate and advising on cross-border as well as UK real estate transactions.Advising on property finance, innovative financing methods and equity and debt restructurings, including restructurings of financial institutions.Advising on complex development projects including construction, planning and environmental issues.Working together with the corporate and finance teams on the property aspects of various transactions, including acquisitions, financings, flotations and rights issues.Liaising with the specialists in our firm including tax, finance and corporate lawyers, areas that are often integral to the structuring of major real estate projects, and contributing to our sector group expertise, particularly our Global Sponsors and Real Estate and Leisure groups.Independent and team based proactive business development approach, including pitching.CompetenciesCandidates must be admitted as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales or have an equivalent common law qualification.Experience at a leading corporate real estate practice, covering all aspects of transactional real estate work ideally including cross-border transactions.High quality lawyer with proven technical and commercial background.Proven experience and interest in business development.Excellent academic recordThe IndividualExcellent technical and commercial abilities.Able to work effectively as part of a team and supervise more junior lawyers.Highly effective communicator (both orally and in writing).Able to take on a high degree of responsibility and manage a challenging workload.Committed to providing an excellent service to our clients.Proactive involvement in business development and knowledge management.Overview Of The FirmFreshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is a major international law firm, providing business law advice of the highest quality.
