Country Director

Position description

OUR Rescue Thailand, established in 2019, aims to support the Thailand government in eradicating human trafficking and child exploitation. This mission is pursued through training, education, capacity building, and survivor care. As a branch of the U.S.-based NGO OUR Rescue, founded in 2013, OUR Rescue Thailand adheres to the same core principles of ending human trafficking and child exploitation on a global scale.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the Thailand Country Director to lead our operations in Thailand. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of the OUR Rescue Thailand Country office and program including fostering relationships with government officials and ensuring that our mission aligns with OUR Rescue’s global strategic initiatives. This position reports to the Regional Director for Operation – Asia.

Key Objectives of this role include:

  1. National representation and coordination.
  2. Overseeing a high-performance team and all country activities.
  3. Development and execution of country strategy and driving impactful anti-trafficking initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with local and international law enforcement partners as well as NGOs & partners to combat sex trafficking and exploitation in Thailand.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to support law enforcement in the fight against human trafficking.
  • Act as the senior representative of OUR Rescue in Thailand.
  • Provide daily oversight of the Survivor Care Team in coordination with the Regional Director for Survivor Care – Asia.
  • Provide daily oversight of the Operations Team in coordination with the Regional Director for Operations or COO – Asia
  • Development of the process for and delivery of a new Country Strategy, with revisions built in on an annual basis.
  • Constant evolution of the country program to leverage new opportunities and address constraints to realize maximum impact, in line with the Regional and Global strategies.
  • Foster a professional work environment that upholds OUR Rescue’s values.
  • Strengthen relationships with current and new partners & donors within Thailand.
  • Coordinate hiring and training initiatives
  • Prepare and follow standard procedures & policies for operations plans and after-action activities and submit high level reporting reports.
  • Support international rescue operations as needed in line with OUR and local law enforcements policies, guideline and SOP’s.
  • Represent OUR Rescue at public and media events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in relevant field such as Criminal Justice, Political Science, Human Rights, Law, Social Sciences, International relations etc. or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years’ experience working as a Senior Manager or Country lead in Development, Humanitarian Response, Criminal Justice or specific Anti Trafficking/ Exploitation contexts.
  • Experience from working in complex international contexts (preferably in Thailand or SE Asia).
  • Documented/proven results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Highly developed leadership and management skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and build a diverse team and foster a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Strong budget management experience with proven record of delivering programs and country objectives on time and on budget in compliance with O.U.R and donor requirements and ensuring that necessary systems are in place.
  • Proven experience in overseeing all country level activities including both programs team and support departments; finance, grants, logistics, legal, human resources, office administration, ICT, etc.
  • Experience of influencing key decision makers, including government, local authorities, partners and donors, in a complex environment.
  • Experience in leading security and safety in complex or volatile environments, including in times of crisis.

Desired Qualifications/Experience

  • Direct Experience in Anti human trafficking, Protection based programs, Law enforcement, Survivor Care or other fields related to combating human trafficking and exploitation.
  • Knowledge of Thai language, political context and culture

Required:

  • Valid passport and willingness to relocate to Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Ability to pass a background and criminal check and provide references and documentation for relevant experience and certifications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Thailand visa/permit authorizing work (Candidates with existing legal working rights in Thailand are preferred).
