Introduction to the role of the team
We are a friendly, collaborative, and ambitious team and with the help of the hundreds of
volunteers who work with us every year, we can achieve so much in our mission to protect,
promote and enhance the green spaces of Leeds.
Your role
-
To provide community engagement support for practical environmental tasks supporting our
woodland creation initiative including tree planting and seed gathering. - Working with volunteers and promoting community involvement activities whilst supporting
community groups. - Interpretation and promotional duties such as guided walks, and educational activities. Some
weekend working may be required, and possible attendance at evening meetings. - The nature of the work can be physically demanding and you must be able to work outside in all
weathers and have the ability to negotiate rough terrain. There may also be a requirement to
work alone in remote locations. - To work in partnership with community groups and other relevant organisations including
education activities with children. - To assist groups within Leeds to manage, maintain and enhance areas for biodiversity and our
visitors. - To assist in the management, co-ordination and delivery of volunteer and education activities
in support of the Parks and Green Spaces Strategy. - To develop, promote and co-ordinate the involvement of local groups and volunteers in the care
and enhancement of the parks, green spaces and more general countryside of Leeds.
What you will bring to the role
-
A friendly, outgoing personality and provide excellent standards of customer service to inspire
those around you. Enterprising, resourceful, enthusiastic, and self-motivated. - You will be supportive and ambitious with organisational skills and a can do approach.
- Familiarity of major habitat/vegetation types and appreciation of the issues concerning their
conservation with an understanding of ecological, biodiversity and broader environmental issues - Experience in environmental education, countryside management or nature conservation.
