The Curriculum and Program Review Consultant will work closely with staff within SPARK: The Centre for Academic Excellence, and with faculty and academic administrators within the wider College community to enhance academic quality and support new program/curricular development, with expertise in responsive, inclusive and accessible approaches to curricular design, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The incumbent will be responsible for building capacity within the portfolios and pan-institutionally in inclusive design/EDI approaches to academic quality, including the development of resources, workshops, and initiatives.What You’ll Be DoingCurriculum Responsibilities

  • Facilitating and collaborating with teams of subject matter experts, Academic Faculties, and the SPARK team to promote and enhance academic quality at the program and institutional levels through the review and development of curriculum within the context of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU), the Credential Validation Services (CVS), and the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) guidelines, College policy and practice, College strategic direction, and the Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA);
  • Facilitating the design of a flexible and responsive curricula.

Program Development and Review Responsibilities

  • Consulting with Academic Faculty teams in navigating, managing, and completing the program review and consent renewal process, including the completion of required internal and external documentation;
  • Providing guidance and support to Academic Faculty teams in the collection and analysis of program and institutional data, as well as social and economic need data (i.e. industry trends, employment outlook, labour market demand), to support evidence informed decision making and academic quality;
  • Ensuring programs are designed with an evidence-based approach which includes industry consultations;
  • Providing support in curriculum analysis to ensure alignment with the Ontario Qualifications Framework (OQF), external bodies, Sheridan policies and processes, and established best practices in curriculum development and inclusive design;
  • Promoting and supporting the adoption of inclusive approaches/EDI in program review and program development consultations and developing related resources, workshops, and initiatives.

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum, Instructional Design, or related field (PhD preferred)
  • 3 years of experience in academic quality/curriculum development
  • Knowledge in, and experience with, EDI and inclusive design frameworks, as they relate to curricular development and academic quality
  • Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, specifically written, editorial, and presentation
  • Research experience, specifically with analysis and reporting of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Proven facilitation skills and experience in developing curricular resources
  • Detail oriented, with emphasis on academic quality and adherence to external and internal policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with CVS, MCU and OCQAS would be an asset
