Customer Service Representative in Metairie, Louisiana

Description

Robert half is seeking a Customer Service Representative for our client in Metairie, Louisiana. This role is vital to our operations, where you will manage customer interactions, maintain customer records, and resolve inquiries. You will be closely working with the Warehouse and Accounting teams. This is a short-term contract to full time employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process customer credit applications and manage customer profiles

• Update customer profiles as required, ensuring information is current and accurate

• Coordinate with customs brokers and customs for the release of cargo

• Communicate instructions to the trucking company for container pick-up, noting the last free day and updating the system accordingly

• Maintain constant communication with clients, providing updates as needed

• Ensure timely completion and submission of billing/invoicing to accounting

• Coordinate deliveries with both internal and external truckers

• Track and trace import and export shipments for assigned clients

• Process general drayage and accessorial billing (chassis, detention, demurrage, per diem, etc.)

• Handle freight forwarding documentation for export shipments (bills of lading, country of origin, etc.)

• Perform any other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

• Must have experience in answering inbound calls and providing high-quality customer service

• Prior experience in a call center environment is essential

• Proficiency in data entry tasks and order entry is required

• Must be able to handle both inbound and outbound calls effectively

• Should have excellent email correspondence skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is necessary

• Experience in scheduling appointments is a plus

• Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve client issues promptly

• Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
