Here at Kuehne+Nagel, our Mississauga site is looking for a new Customs Documentation Specialist to join our Customs TeamYOUR ROLEYou as Customs Documentation Specialist you will manage the accounts within their alpha group ensuring the efficient and compliant processing of import and export shipments through customs, arranging domestic trucking and performing other value-added services as required Your Typical Shift will be Monday – Friday 8.00pm – 4.00amYOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure classifying data entry, photocopying, scanning and some assembling of entries.
  • Auditing commercial documents, applying harmonized tariff schedule code for accurate duty assessment and to ensure all federal requirements are met.
  • Document review and assessment of accuracy, verifying country of origin/export, IOR, terms of sale and value to ensure that compliance and federal regulation requirements are achieved.
  • Daily follow up on documentation discrepancy issues which requires the ability to troubleshoot and communicate

effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers and foreign origins. * Ensure all Across, Cadex (CAD) and CW warnings are actioned in a timely Manner

  • Read and follow client notes, SOP as well as any and all updates necessary to process in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Make the Customer Care Representative aware of any occurrences that may prevent the compliant release of any goods.
  • Position may require a weekend schedule on a department rotation basis and not limited to working a holiday schedule

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade or related field.
  • 3 + years of experience in similar role from freight forwarding industry is needed
  • In-depth knowledge of customs/brokerage, government regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Certified Customs Specialist certified from original CSCB certification program
  • Knowledge on tariff classification, OGD requirements, permits, amendments, NAFTAs, etc.
  • Experience with all modes of transport, air, truck, rail and ocean.
