As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project. The GO Expansion scope: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems.ObjectiveThe Cybersecurity Engineer will participate in Network and Telecom Cybersecurity design team in designing, deploying and validating network and telecom network security solutions. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.Essential ResponsibilitiesMulti-disciplinary environment working with the network security design, engineering, and the commissioning of integrated radio and TCP/IP networks. Solutions utilize licensed and unlicensed voice and data radios, LAN/WAN networks, and back office servers as well as other communication links between locomotives, between locomotives and wayside equipment, and/or between wayside and central office locations:
- Use system requirements to collaborate closely with the Network Design team to improve cybersecurity solutions and integrate them into the network.
- Create and maintain documentation including Cyber security Functional Specifications, Cyber security Architecture Design description and Cyber security Interface Control Documents
- Work as part of the Network team and assist Lead System Designer as needed
- Perform Cybersecurity Engineering tasks in support of program objectives
- Use Cybersecurity platform management tools to design a system that will meet network security, performance, management, and monitoring objectives
- Review cybersecurity risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies for a Communication Network
- Perform Cybersecurity Engineering tasks in support of program objectives
- Understanding and interpreting of the system cybersecurity requirements and contract requirements and generate subsystem-level requirements using DOORS and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project, consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Administer Active Directory, including user and group management, Group Policy administration, authentication processes, and DNS management and troubleshooting
- Oversee firewall configurations and management, specifically with Fortinet products, to ensure robust perimeter security
- Design and manage security gateways, including VPN and IPSEC configurations, to facilitate secure remote access
- Manage antivirus solutions, including Symantec Antivirus server and client management, to protect against malware and ensure endpoint security
- Administer and manage Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to ensure timely deployment of Windows updates and patches across the organization’s systems
- Ensure documents be delivered as per project Documentation plan (Documentation Master List) in line with project Development For Quality Gate Reviews milestones
- Collaborate closely with the Network Design team to improve cybersecurity solutions and integrate them into the network
- Participate to Installation and Test & Commissioning activities as well as network maintenance activities remote and in the field

- Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in networking or telecommunication cybersecurity
- Experience of designing, implementing, and operating secured networks,
- CISSP / CISM certifications preferred
Competencies & Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Firewalls and Active directory for core networks and backhauls
- Knowledge of network security and access policies, Cybersecurity principles, technologies, and solutions
- Proficiency in IPsec, Ciphers, GPO, Central authentications, Antivirus Solution, IDS
- Proven experience with monitoring tools, Cybersecurity platforms
- Knowledge of virtualization concepts
- Knowledge of experience in railway industry is a plus
Skill Matrix:
- Certification in cybersecurity such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, GICSP, or CompTIA Security+ (At least 3 certificates are mandatory)
- 8 years of proven experience delivering safety-critical systems (Mandatory)
- 3-5 years of experience using standards including IEC-62443, CLC/TS 50701, APTA, and other standards (Mandatory)
- Experience performing cybersecurity analysis on passenger rail systems (Mandatory)
- Experience with cyber certification of rail rapid transit systems in a lead role (Mandatory)
