At Custom Health, Data Engineers design and develop data pipelines for data preparation and organization for business intelligence and machine learning applications while complying with data privacy and security policies.In this role, you will:

  • Design, code, unit test, integrate, and document scalable and maintainable data pipelines for business intelligence and machine learning applications
  • Implement data pipelines in a local development environment that can then be promoted to a SaaS data platform
  • Implement data pipelines and data access mechanisms in compliance with data security and data privacy policies
  • Optimize data pipelines for a balance between performance and cost
  • Plan and deliver tested modular components integrated into a larger system as part of sprints
  • Plan and deliver improvements and bug fixes to data pipelines
  • Work with data scientists and machine learning engineers to make the data available in formats suitable for data science and machine learning tasks
  • Continually raise the bar and evangelize a high standard. Partner with leaders and peers to identify and take initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development with expertise in building data pipelines using Python language, database design, and data modeling
  • Solid understanding of databases, SQL, data warehousing, data preparation and data analysis
  • Expertise in data visualization techniques and experience in building data visualization applications
  • Experience in debugging and root causing complex data models and data pipelines
  • Expertise in modern large-scale, distributed data architecture, data processing, and data stores.
  • Experience in implementing data pipelines in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

  • A self-starter and an excellent problem solver who can work comfortably from big picture to low-level details. Strong software lifecycle management skills.
  • A motivated engineer who works with purpose, modesty, and respect for all people.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical and project issues clearly and concisely.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in implementing and integrating machine learning algorithms and pipelines
  • Experience in implementing data and machine learning pipelines in Databricks.
  • Prior healthcare data experience.
  • Experience with complex systems involving large and distributed datasets.
