As a member of the Database Administration team, RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM), this role will have overall responsibility for the GAM database platform including system stability, performance, security, availability, and scalability. The successful candidate will provide DBA support to a portfolio of applications across the GAM line of business.Please Note: This position can be located in Vancouver.What will you do?Perform day-to-day database administration tasks and provide support to our internal clientsComplete builds, upgrades and enhancements to maintain the database serversActively discuss, review, and recommend technical options and activities with the teamRespond to ad-hoc requests from our internal clients with a high level of customer serviceAct as Subject Matter Expert for projectsTroubleshoot performance-related issues and optimize in-house developed application codeCreate and maintain system documentation, as per RBC standards and project requirementsProvide after-hours support when needed (planned or on-call)What do you need to succeed?Must HaveA degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.5+ years of database administration and operational work experience using Microsoft SQL Server (2014/2016/2017/2019)Effective communication with team members, internal and external clientsBasic to intermediate understanding of T-SQL and the SQL StandardStrong systematic troubleshooting and problem solving skillsNice to HaveMicrosoft SQL Server 2016 or higher and/or Azure SQL certificationsKnowledge of public cloud (Azure, AWS RDS)Experience with PowerShellExperience/knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other database platformsWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
