This position will report to the Senior Manager of DEI and will be responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders to identify and address areas of improvement, challenge bias, and ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of the company’s operations. The DEI Coordinator will also coordinate and support the standing DEI committees and affinity groups.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the activities of the DEI committees and affinity groups within the organization.
  • Serve as the recording secretary for meetings, ensuring accurate and detailed minutes are taken and distributed to committee members.
  • Collaborate with the co-chairs of the committees to build meeting agendas that address relevant DEI topics and initiatives.
  • Lead committee meetings if the co-chairs are unavailable, ensuring effective facilitation and active participation.
  • Collect and analyze DEI and demographic data from various sources within the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to report on DEI Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of DEI to support DEI initiatives and programs.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of DEI training programs and initiatives for employees at all levels.
  • Collaborate with the People and Culture team to support the recruitment and retention of diverse talent.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion, privacy, and ethics.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and ensure confidentiality in handling sensitive employee data.
  • Stay updated on current trends, best practices, and legal requirements related to DEI to ensure compliance and inform program development.
  • Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization by promoting awareness and understanding among employees.
  • Collaborate with external partners, community organizations, and resources to enhance DEI initiatives and support community engagement.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion roles or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Knowledge of relevant DEI best practices, policies, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate meetings effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passion for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proficient in using technology and tools to support DEI initiatives.
  • Post-secondary education in law, political science, or gender and women studies would be an asset.
  • Certification as a CCIP (Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional) would be considered an asset, referring to the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) for more information.
