We value people above all else and the experiences of our patients and their families, our team members, and our partners are at the very top of our agenda.Through our values of CARE; TRUST AND BE TRUSTWORTHY; COURAGE TO START, HEART TO FINISH and WELCOME ONE TO WELCOME ALL we leverage the collective talents and strengths of our GRH team, our community, and our partners to innovate and accelerate the transformation of health care delivery.We currently have a full time opportunity for a part time Department Secretary 5 to join our Employee Health & Well-Being team.How Department Secretary 5 support our teams at Grand River Hospital:Working with and reporting to the Manager, Team Member Health and Well-being, the incumbent provides administrative support including clerical duties such as reception, scheduling and registration of employees and volunteers for Occupational Health appointments and any necessary lab work. Data entry, document preparation and report generation is also required. Other functions include managing team member and volunteer charts, maintaining monthly statistics and ordering supplies.The incumbent will work closely with the Occupational Health Nursing team, Well-being Consultant and Injury Prevention Consultant to ensure a positive and seamless team member experience. In addition, occasional administrative tasks will also be required to support the Disability Support Service and Safety Teams which could include report generation, email communication, invoice reimbursement and other duties as assigned. The incumbent will contribute to ensuring there is a healthy and safe environment for all patients, staff and visitors.At Grand River Hospital, the Department Secretary 5 has:

  • Post secondary diploma in Medical Office Administration, plus 3 years secretarial experience in a health care facility or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Medical terminology required
  • Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a high paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to learn new tasks
  • Demonstrated flexibility, reliability and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team environment
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with employees, volunteers and physicians.
  • Excellent typing and data entry skills
  • Knowledge of hospital computer software – Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel), Knowledge of Parklane software an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good attendance record
