About the roleThe Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking a Departmental Lecturer in Evidence Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation (EBSIPE) to contribute to research and teaching on child and adolescent health, violence, health inequalities, and quantitative methods.The Departmental Lecturer will join a research team led by Dr Amiya Bhatia. The team uses quantitative and qualitative methods to conduct theory-informed, critical social epidemiologic and social science research with a focus on young people and health inequalities in low- and middle-income countries.Research areas include a) the causes and consequences of adverse child and adolescent health outcomes with a focus on violence against children, b) the impacts of household, school, neighbourhood and climate contexts on young people’s health and experiences of violence and c) questions related to health inequalities, power hierarchies, ethics, youth participation and equitable partnerships in research. Teaching includes course development, delivery, assessment, and student supervision on our MSc/MPhil in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation courses.The role is being advertised as full time however we would also be willing to accept applications from candidates wishing to work part-time from 50% FTE up to 80% FTE.About youYou will hold, or be close to completion of, a relevant PhD with expertise in quantitative or mixed methods social science research methodologies, social epidemiology or biostatistics and have some teaching experience. You will have skills in cross sectional or longitudinal data analysis techniques (e.g., multi-level modelling, mixed models, latent class analysis and its derivatives, longitudinal structural equation and text analysis), data management, and data visualisation. Experience with mixed methods research or qualitative research is desirable. You will also have some experience, or interest, in team-based science and working with research partners in the Global North and Global South.Our commitment to diversity and inclusionThe Department is committed to fostering an environment of equality, diversity and inclusion.
