Departmental Lecturer in Nineteenth-Century United States History

Grade 7: £35,308-£43,155 per annum

Fixed-term (12 months) 01 September 2023 to 31 August 2024

St Peter’s College and the Rothermere American Institute are seeking an enthusiastic and effective teacher with a strong research profile to lead Oxford’s teaching in US history between c1763 and 1898 for the 2023-24 academic year. It will be an advantage if the lecturer is able to contribute to two specialist papers on the Civil War Era (Slavery, Emancipation and the Crisis of the Union) and/or Imperial Republic: The United States and Global Imperialism, 1867-1914. It is anticipated that the appointee will take up the post on 1 September 2023.

The lecturer will also contribute to the delivery of the compulsory undergraduate methods papers Approaches to History and Disciplines of History and contribute to the admissions process for History and its Joint Schools on behalf of St Peter’s College.
