Departmental Lecturer in Social Anthropology

The School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography seeks to appoint two full time fixed-term Departmental Lecturers in Social Anthropology for a period of 2 years, from September/October 2023.

You will be an experienced teacher with both breadth and depth of knowledge of the key subject area of the post and a full command of the relevant literature.

You will contribute primarily to the MSc/MPhil in Social Anthropology course. You will also be expected to deliver teaching on social anthropology topics to a mixed cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate students, to contribute lectures designed for first-year undergraduates, and to contribute to graduate classes and seminars. You will also be asked to supervise MSc students, covering a broad range of topics drawn from the core syllabus, and to set and mark examinations.

One of the two post holders will also be expected to provide tutorial for undergraduates at St Hugh’s College in year 1.
