This has since further widened in scope to include other biological systems and disease indications such as inflammatory and vascular diseases, obesity and clinical pharmacology. Research being conducted is diverse, ranging from; (i) fundamental discovery work in how the brain develops and functions, (2) cell and molecular biology techniques to further our understanding of various conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, a range of paediatric neurometabolic diseases, nerve injury, (iii) translational research in gene therapy and tissue engineering and (iv) in silico and pharmacokinetic studies to develop drug dosing in patients. Staff are involved in curriculum development and teaching across all four years of the MPharm programme and the MSc in Experimental Pharmacology and Therapeutics. The department also host extensive research programmes involving many PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.Further information about the School can be found on the website atAbout the roleThis is an exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Technician at the UCL School of Pharmacy, based within the Research Department of Pharmacology. The role holder will provide a high level of technical support across teaching and research activities within the Department and Division and particularly in our growing Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMPs) programmes.The role holder will work directly with PIs and researchers to ensure they are making best use of facilities and will be a key collaborator in delivering research results.The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the departmental tissue culture facilities including a specialist iPSC culture room. They will train of new users and order consumables.During Term 1 and Term 2 the post holder, alongside other members of the teaching technical team, will assist with the delivery of practical classes for the MPharm and the Experimental Pharmacology and Therapeutics MSc courses. This will include preparation of reagents and equipment, assistance during the classes, and clearing the labs ready for the next class.About youThe candidate should have a Batchelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification, in biological sciences or a related subject.They should also have experience in cell culture techniques and of working in a university teaching laboratory.A knowledge of Health and Safety associated to these tasks and experience of designing, interpreting and analysing results is also requiredWhat we offerAs well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
