The University of Manchester Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Unit are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Deputy Head of Building Surveying to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will support the Head of Building Surveying in overseeing projects, managing staff, and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to advance their career in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.We are looking for a candidate that can:

  • Assist the Head of Building Surveying in strategic planning and operational management.
  • Lead and mentor a team of building surveyors and trainee building surveyors, providing guidance and support.
  • Oversee a variety of projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Conduct technical assessments, prepare reports, and provide expert advice.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing and client presentations.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Appropriate academic qualification to degree level in a Construction or Property-related discipline
  • Chartered membership of a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS).
  • Experience of Facilities Management and the management of facilities / asset database
  • Extensive experience of professional BS work, particularly dilapidations and Party Wall matters.
  • Extensive experience of acting in a client capacity dealing with professional consultants carrying out design work on behalf of the client.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in relevant software and technology.
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
