The School of Engineering was founded in 2009.  It currently comprises approximately 30 full-time academic staff, delivering research and education within and across the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, and Biomedical Engineering. The School’s strategic focus is to position itself within the top 30 in both research and teaching within the UK Engineering Higher Education sector, and within the top 300 of the Univjobs (THE) World University rankings at subject level by 2027. The strategy, consistent with the University and College-level plans, focuses on elements to achieve and maintain internationally leading inter-disciplinary research and education, expansion of research outputs and impact, excellence in teaching and the student experience, within a diverse and inclusive work environment.

The School of Engineering seeks to appoint a Deputy Head of School to form part of the leadership and management team for the School.  The Deputy Head will contribute to the School achieving its strategic objectives by taking responsibility for a number of delegated core activities.
