Developing Nuclear Regulator Radiological Monitoring and Assessment
Flexible location
Grade – NG ND
About Us
We are currently recruiting for a Developing Nuclear Regulator for Radiological Monitoring and
Assessment to join our team.
At the Environment Agency, we are responsible for regulating the disposal of radioactive waste
across the nuclear industry in England. Our radiological monitoring and assessment specialists
manage radiological monitoring contracts to provide measurements of radioactive discharges from
nuclear facilities and levels in the environment.
We assess the impacts of past and future discharges and disposals of radioactive waste on
people and wildlife. We provide technical advice and guidance, in these areas, to our
regulators. We work with other UK regulators and the Food Standards Agency, commissioning
habits surveys around nuclear sites and share information. We ensure the public are informed
about levels of radioactivity and any potential impacts by publishing an annual report on
Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE).
In collaboration with stakeholders and experts in the field, we use the latest scientific
information to develop guidance and systems for monitoring discharges, modelling radioactivity
in the environment and producing tools for assessing the potential impact on people and the
environment.
