St Edmund’s College is hiring an Development Assistant to work within the Development team. As a Development Assistant you will provide administrative support to help help ensure Alumni, Donors and Friends maintain a positive relationship with the College, , which helps to secure the financial future of the college through fundraising.

Job responsibilities

  • Undertake all administration for donations including the processing and recording all gifts in liaison with all relevant parties including  Reception and Finance teams CAF and Cambridge in America.
  • Assisting the Development Team with fundraising initiatives such as telephone campaigns, Crowdfunder’s, and other appeals.
  • Collaborating with the Development & Communications teams in producing regular internal and external communications.
  • Supporting the Development Team in maintaining and updating the College’s website, microsites, intranet, and social media channels.
  • Create, manipulate, and analyse data as requested including collating responses from consultation exercises and prepare information for the questionnaires and any relevant FoI requests.
  • Co-ordinating the process of developing and refreshing the College’s pool of individual prospects. Researching potential donors, arranging face to face meetings, and producing briefings for meetings, events, and for due diligence review.
  • Being a first point of contact for the Development team by telephone, email, or in person.
  • Providing administrative support to relevant committees, including arranging and minuting meetings and supporting events.
  • Supporting the Development Director and Development Team  in preparing papers for internal and external meetings
  • Arrange meetings, overseas trips and oversee the office diary.
  • Work with colleagues to share best practise and ensure policies are adhered to
  • Ensure the upkeep of the College, report any problems as necessary and help to keep the College litter free.
  • Suggest and implement new ways of working and ideas, be an advocate for Continuous Improvement.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Complete ad hoc tasks as required

What we need

The successful candidate will have an excellent command of verbal and written English, with an ability to understand and articulate the aims of the College, whilst handling confidential information.

They will remain calm under pressure and resilient, with excellent attention to detail and organisation skills.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Previous experience in an administrative role.
  • Understanding of databases (ideally CRM databases)
  • Previous experience of producing written communications, including newsletters, invitations, letters and publications.
  • Previous experience of fundraising, and preferably in an education context. (desirable)
  • An understanding of the Collegiate University environment. (desirable)
