  • High School Graduate with post secondary diploma or courses in medical terminology, medical office or medical secretary preferred.
  • General knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with physicians, patients and other health care staff.
  • General knowledge of computers and internet functions.
  • Must have strong computer experience and clerical ability.
  • Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision.
  • Must have satisfactory work performance..
  • Must have proven good attendance record.
  • Previous experience in booking diagnostic procedures and/or patient registration.

Duties

  • Books appointments for patients and physicians’ offices for all diagnostic procedures.
  • Calls/faxes physicians’ offices with patient appointment times.
  • Calls emergency bookings as directed by technologists.
  • Answers general telephone booking inquires and reroutes calls as necessary.
  • When booking appointments, informs patient and or physicians’ offices of the required patient preparation as indicated by departmental protocol.
  • Distributes received requisitions to the various sites.
  • Books preventative maintenance as directed by the Charge Technologist or Manager.
  • Rebooks patients as directed by the Charge Technologist or Manager.
  • Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with all co-workers and clients.
  • Demonstrates willingness to provide the highest quality service appropriate to the position based on the concept and philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensures the security of all files, related to bookings, in accordance with department procedures to protect confidential information. Maintains confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Manager or delegate.
